Forest Park Puppy Plunge (Sept. 12)

Now that the pool is closed for the season, your lovable canines are invited for a swim! We'll be opening the pool on Saturday, September 12 for dog swimming (after the chlorine has disappeared!)

All sociable dogs are welcome, and we just ask that you please remember to clean up after your dog. Here are a few pertinent details:

When: Saturday, September 12

Small Dogs 9:30-10:15am

Large(r) Dogs 10:30am-12:00pm

Where: Forest Park Pool

Who: All sociable, vaccinated Forest Park pups and their dues-paying humans.

Please read through these Puppy Plunge rules and tips to make sure all dogs (and their humans) have a safe and enjoyable time!

Puppy Plunge Rules & Tips:

Due to COVID, same rules apply for the Puppy Plunge as they did for the regular swim season.
Bring a photo ID for check-in. No guests from outside Forest Park allowed.
Wear a mask
Only 50 people will be allowed in the pool facility at one time
Practice social distancing
Only vaccinated dogs are allowed, and we ask that all owners sign-in upon entry. (Dog owner’s name and address, and a signature verifying that your furry friend is up to date on vaccines).
Aggressive dogs, dogs with obvious infections or diarrhea, or dogs in heat should stay at home.
No humans can swim or be in the pool with the dogs. This is the best way to prevent disease transmission to humans and to prevent injuries.
Bring your own dog-doo pickup bags, and please clean up after your pet.
Show your dog how to get out of the pool- Lead your dog to the shallow end steps several times so they know how to get out of the pool. Dogs may panic if they’re tired and want to get out, but forget where the steps are or they may injure themselves while trying to climb a vertical pool wall.
Be watchful. Swimming is a strenuous activity and it’s especially important to be watchful of older and obese dogs to make sure they don’t overdo it and become exhausted.
Pool toys! Tennis balls are a favorite toy at doggie pool parties, so be prepared to share. It’s best to leave your dog’s favorite toys at home and don’t sweat it if a toy gets lost.
Bathe or rinse your dog with clean water to remove any small amount of chorine or pool chemicals that may have remained, and be sure to dry their ears well to avoid ear infections.
